Manatee Monday!

Sirenian's include the group of animals like the manatee and dugong (similar to a manatee but with the classic mermaid tail instead of a paddle shaped tail). They have long been associated with the legend of the mermaids! It's believed that lonely sailors were probably hallucinating from drink seawater (don't do that!) and scurvy when they saw these creatures and mistook them for beautiful half human half fish ladies that they would become infatuated with.

Also did you know that manatees have axillary nipples? That is, nipples that are located in the axilla (armpit). So, if a female manatee chose to wear a bikini top, she would wear them under her armpits to cover her "manateats." But I think most prefer to let them be free!

Fact: As we get closer to pride month it is important to note the relationship between our friends Dave (they/them) and Phil (his/him). Even though Dave's housemate, Phil, won't ever quite fully understand Dave's world, Phil still supports them by helping them pick out wigs, tie their bivalve bikini, and most importantly accepting and loving Dave for exactly who they are!
